However, the date of his appointment depends on the outcome of the one-year non-competition clause he currently has with his current employer, which is still under investigation. Depending on the result, this process may take several months or a year. Once the date is determined, the RvC will convene an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (BAVA) to formally inform the General Meeting of Shareholders (AVA) about the intended appointment. During the interim period, the current directors will continue to handle the responsibilities of the CEO.

Alex Kroes (born on September 23, 1974, in Utrecht) is a graduate in business economics and co-founder of Sports Entertainment Group, a major international agency office primarily operating in football but also other sports. From February 2019 to August 2022, Kroes was actively involved as a (major) shareholder of Go Ahead Eagles, and since December 2022, he has been working at AZ as the Director of International Football Strategy. Kroes went through Ajax's youth academy as a player from age nine to nineteen. He has been a member of the Ajax club for over 30 years and is still active as a football player in Ajax's Saturday department, currently playing for the fifth team.
