Ajax players welcome teammate Ter Stegen at training

Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez’s players welcomed Marc ter Stegen onto the training pitch on Tuesday. On the day he officially became an Ajax player, the German goalkeeper immediately took his first steps on the pitch at the club’s training complex, De Toekomst. The squad, which also includes fellow new arrival Julian Brandt, is preparing for the upcoming encounter with Shelbourne FC. Check out footage from Tuesday’s training session here.

In the pursuit of a place in the UEFA Conference League league phase, Ajax will host the Irish club on Thursday. The third qualifying round Conference League clash will be played in a sold-out Johan Cruijff ArenA. Important preparatory work must be carried out there from 20:00 onwards. Ajax can secure a strong position ahead of the return leg.

Next week, the Ajax players can, or rather must, finish the job in Dublin. In the Irish capital, a place in the play-off round must be secured. The cosy Tolka Park will be the venue for the return leg.

Anyone who was able to soak up the atmosphere in the ArenA last week, when Ajax overcame FK Vojvodina, will look ahead to the upcoming home match with confidence. Once again supported and inspired by so many Ajax fans, all the ingredients appear to be in place for another memorable football evening in Amsterdam.
