Ajax lost to Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The game finished 2-1 for the home side in Deventer. Ajax struggled, especially in the first half. After the break, Steven Berghuis scored but the Amsterdam side could not muster more than that.

Erik ten Hag's team were sloppy in the first 45 minutes and after an early chance for Davy Klaassen, whose header hit the crossbar, the the chances dried up. With goals from Cordoba and Rommens, it was 2-0 at halftime.

Ajax improved slightly in the second half, making it 2-1, but were unable to find an equalizer.
