Two days after the 1-3 win in Sittard, Monday morning called for a training session in Amsterdam. Limburg was relatively far, but the next away match is somewhat further from Amsterdam. After a training session on Dutch soil, the Ajacieden prepared for departure to Azerbaijan.
At around 15:00 Dutch time, the plane bound for Baku took off from Schiphol. After a five-hour flight, the Ajacieden arrived at approximately 23:15 local time. Night had long since fallen, partly due to the three-hour time difference in Azerbaijan.
On Tuesday morning another training session will take place, after which head coach Fred Grim will join a player for a press conference. The press moment from the Tofikh Bakhramov Stadium can be followed live at 13:15 Dutch time. Make sure to tune in via the Ajax channels. Qarabağ FK – Ajax kicks off on Wednesday evening at 18:45 Dutch time.
Ajax U19
In addition to the first team, the U19s have also travelled. The Amsterdam talents will face the side from Baku on the same day as Ajax 1 in the UEFA Youth League. Ajax U19 sit in nineteenth place with seven points after five matches. Opponents Qarabağ FK U19 are still without points.
In contrast to the Champions League, only six matchdays are played in the League Phase of the Youth League. After six matches, the top 22 progress to the next round. Teams placed first to sixth draw a home match against the teams placed seventeenth to twenty-second. Teams placed seventh to sixteenth will meet an opponent from the Domestic Champions Path in the next round.
Qarabağ FK U19 – Ajax U19 kicks off on Wednesday at 11:00 Dutch time and can be followed live via our channels.
