Almost immediately after closing the transfer window, the Ajax internationals left to join their national teams. This meant a few of the brand-new Ajax players only had a short stay in Amsterdam. Now that (almost) all of them have returned to De Toekomst, Steijn and his staff can start to create their ideal line-up.
One thing is sure: it’s a busy time in football. Anyone looking at the fixtures can see that important matches follow each other rapidly. After the away match against FC Twente, the home matches against Olympique Marseille (the first match of the UEFA Europa League group stage) and Feyenoord will follow.
