Ajax had already beaten PSV 3-2 in early November, just four days after defeating Feyenoord 0-2 in De Kuip. Francesco Farioli’s team also won the return match against their Rotterdam rivals, this time in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Kenneth Taylor was the hero in early February, scoring the 2-1 winner in extra time.

With their victory at the Philips Stadion, Ajax has now defeated both PSV and Feyenoord twice in a single season, which has only happened three times before in the club’s history. The last time was in the 2021/2022 season under Erik ten Hag. Ajax also dominated their sporting rivals in 1988/1989 and 1994/1995.
