Menno Geelen (Huizen, 1982) will officially become the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on July 1, 2025, a role he has already been fulfilling on an interim basis at Ajax since May 10, 2024. Geelen has been with Ajax since 2010 and has served as Commercial Director since November 1, 2016. Since his interim appointment as CEO on May 10, 2024, his duties as Commercial Director have been temporarily taken over by Cas Biesta.
President-Commissioner Carolien Gehrels: "Menno has strong support both within and outside the club and has done an excellent job as interim CEO over the past year. The Supervisory Board has full confidence that Menno will take the club and organisation to the next level. This decision ensures continuity and stability, and we also find it very important to provide opportunities for talented individuals within the organisation to progress. Menno has been with Ajax for fifteen years and is a great example of this. He expressed his willingness to take on the permanent role of CEO, provided there remains room to train former players for top executive positions. We have great confidence in the current management team and the direction we are taking."
Menno Geelen: "It has been an honour to serve as Ajax’s interim CEO over the past year. That honour became even greater when I was asked to continue in this role. I have always stated that this is a decision for the Supervisory Board and that I believe former players should hold important positions within the organisation. I am grateful to the Supervisory Board and pleased with the commitment to further train former players. This extension not only allows more time to do this properly, but also helps maintain stability within the current management team, the Supervisory Board, and the Board of Directors. This ensures that the focus remains on what truly matters: football."
