The match in the Frankfurt stadium started with very little chances for Ajax. Eintracht Frankfurt dominated the play, leaving Ajax little space to create opportunities. Early on in the first half, Jean Matteo Bahoya gave the German side the lead. Mario Götze also managed to find the net, and the teams went into the dressing rooms at half time with a 2-0 score.
Once back on the pitch, Ajax failed to turn the tide. Hugo Ekitike scored after easily getting past Ametcan Kaplan, scoring the 3-0. Kenneth Taylor scored in the 78th minute, but Ajax failed to do any more damage to the German team. Mario Götze scored his second goal of the evening after getting past Matheus, who got out of his goal too far, making the final score 4-1.
