The other group match played on Tuesday was won by Liverpool, who are currently leading Group D with six points from two games. Atalanta are two points behind in second place, while Ajax are in third with one point. Ajax's next two games will be against FC Midtjylland.

"We could have played smarter in the second half", said trainer Erik ten Hag after the match. "We had chances to make it 3-0, but let ourselves get 'out-countered'. Not such a smart move when you're leading 2-0. In that kind of phase, we should have kept possession longer."
