Lassina Traoré, David Neres and Zakaria Labyad were the scorers in the first half, while the second half saw another goal for Labyad and one for Dušan Tadić. What took away from Ajax's win were injuries to both Davy Klaassen and Noussair Mazraoui.

Shortly after the end of the match, coach Erik ten Hag was still unsure if Klaassen and Mazraoui would be available for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League game. "You can't say anything for certain during the first 24 hours. This means you still can't make any conclusions, so that's exactly what we're not going to do."
