Ajax held their final training session on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the UEFA Champions League home fixture against Galatasaray. It served as the last test before the fourth match of the League Phase. Ajax and Galatasaray will meet on Wednesday evening at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
John Heitinga’s team have so far suffered defeats on Europe’s biggest stage against Inter, Olympique Marseille, and Chelsea. After facing Gala, Ajax will go on to meet Benfica, Qarabağ FK, Villarreal CF, and Olympiakos in this phase of the competition.

On Wednesday evening, two clubs that Frank de Boer once represented during his playing career will meet at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The former Ajax player and manager also spent a short period under contract with Galatasaray.
Ajax have drawn for the fifth time this Eredivisie season. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, John Heitinga’s team got no further than 1–1 against sc Heerenveen. Mika Godts still opened the scoring, but halfway through the second half the Frisians drew level.
A resilient Ajax claimed a 2–3 victory away to FC Twente. After trailing 1–0 at half-time, John Heitinga’s side completely turned the game around in just seven minutes. Between the 49th and 56th minute, Ajax scored three times. Although FC Twente pulled one back from the penalty spot to make it 2–3, the win was no longer in danger in Enschede.
