Ajax begin the 2026/2027 season with an impressive victory over FK Vojvodina

Davy Klaassen gave his team the lead as early as the third minute. Ajax therefore made a strong start to their first official match under new head coach Míchel Sánchez. The Spanish manager was making his official debut as Ajax head coach. For almost half an hour, the Amsterdam side dominated the match in Novi Sad. Petar Sukacev's equaliser caused a brief shift in momentum. After Steven Berghuis restored Ajax's lead (1-2), the visitors once again took control.

After the break, Ajax extended their advantage over the Serbians, who will visit the Johan Cruijff ArenA next week. Oscar Gloukh made it 1-3 in fine style. After substitute Caio Henrique had also made his official debut, it was the Ajax youngsters who took centre stage. Abdellah Ouazane made his European debut; the talent had already played in a cup match last season.

Mohamed Abdalla made his official debut for Ajax's first team in the closing stages. The sixteen-year-old debutant crowned his appearance from the bench with a goal, with the teenager setting the final score at 1-4. Ajax can secure their place in the next qualifying round when they host Vojvodina at the ArenA on Thursday.
