Ajax have been knocked out of the Dutch Cup following a 6–0 defeat against AZ. The match in Alkmaar ended in a clear victory for AZ, meaning Ajax are out of the Dutch Cup.

Ajax struggled to gain a foothold in the match from the opening minutes and conceded an early goal through Troy Parrott. The Amsterdam side attempted to regain control but were unable to find a way past the AZ defence. Further goals from Parrott and Peer Koopmeiners saw Ajax trailing 3–0 at half-time.

Shortly after the restart, Fred Grim’s team conceded again when Kees Smit made it 4–0. Ajax were reduced to ten men in the final quarter of an hour following a red card for Owen Wijndal. Parrott completed his hat-trick to extend the lead to 5–0, before Ibrahim Sadiq added a sixth goal late on.

Ajax will now turn their focus to their next fixture. On Saturday, the Ajacieden face FC Twente away, with kick-off at 14:00.

Ajax has reached an agreement with Maximilian Ibrahimović and AC Milan on the loan of the nineteen-year-old forward. The loan agreement runs for six months, until the end of this season. The agreement includes an option to buy for Ajax.
