Ajax and Sparta reach agreement on Kristian Hlynsson

Ajax has reached an agreement with Kristian Hlynsson and Sparta for the immediate loan transfer of the attacking midfielder to the Eredivisie club. Hlynsson's contract with Ajax runs until June 30, 2026.

Hlynsson was born on January 23, 2004, in Odense, Denmark. The international joined Ajax in January 2020 from Icelandic club Breidablik. On December 15, 2021, he made his first-team debut in the Dutch Cup match Ajax – BVV Barendrecht: 4-0. The right-footed midfielder has made 45 appearances for Ajax 1 so far, scoring ten goals.

Technical director Alex Kroes: "Kristian had a lot of playing time last season, but due to competition in his position, that is not the case now. He is still young but already has considerable experience at the highest level. He has also played 87 matches for Jong Ajax. At Sparta, he can become an important player in the coming months, and we have full confidence in that. This move gives him the opportunity to continue his development, and we have wished him all the best. We look forward to welcoming him back to Ajax at the start of next season."

Kristian Hlynsson extends contract

Ajax and Kristian Hlynsson have reached an agreement for the extension of his contract. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder's new contract will take effect on February 1 and run until June 30, 2026. Hlynsson's prior contract ran until mid-2023.
