Ajax and Shakhtar Donetsk have reached an agreement for the transfer of David Neres. The transfer to the Ukrainian club is effective immediately. The winger was still under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2023. Ajax will receive a sum of € 12 million for the transfer. That amount can increase to € 16 million depending on variables.
Neres (Sao Paulo, March 3, 1997) joined Ajax from Sao Paulo FC during the winter break in the 2016/2017 season. On February 26, 2017, he made his debut for the first team during the match between Ajax – Heracles: 4-1. The Brazilian played a total of 180 official matches for Ajax's first team and scored 47 goals.
With Ajax, Neres won the domestic double twice, in 2019 and 2021. In 2019, he also won the Johan Cruijff Shield.
