Gorter was born on May 30, 2000 in Amsterdam and joined Ajax in the summer of 2021 from Go Ahead Eagles. Prior to that, Gorter played in Ajax's youth academy between 2010 and 2014. On 20 January 2022, the keeper made his debut for Ajax 1 in the KNVB Cup match against Excelsior Maassluis. Halfway through the 2022-2023 season, Gorter was loaned out for six months to Scottish club Aberdeen FC. In total, he made sixteen official appearances for Ajax's first team.
