Technical director Alex Kroes: "John stepped in last season as coach under very challenging circumstances, which helped us immensely, and for that, we are incredibly grateful. Unfortunately, his role this season did not develop in the way either of us had envisioned. We spoke openly about this with each other, and agreed it seems best to part ways. We are separating on good terms. John remains a true Ajacied and will always be welcome at the club. I wish him every success in the future."
Van ’t Schip: "It's unfortunate that this season didn’t unfold as we had initially envisioned. Last season, my role as head coach was the primary focus. Those were intense months, on both a professional and personal level, during which we achieved our goal of securing European football with a fifth-place finish. I want to thank Ajax, and I will never forget the fantastic support from the fans. Once an Ajacied, always an Ajacied."
