Ajax and Cruz Azul have reached an agreement on the transfer of Jorge Sánchez to the Mexican club. The defender’s contract at Ajax ran until June 30, 2026.

The Mexican was born in Torreón on December 10, 1997, and transferred from Club América in the summer of 2022. The right-footed player made his Ajax 1 debut on August 28, 2022, during the away match against FC Utrecht: 0-2. Last season, Sánchez went on a loan spell to the Portuguese FC Porto. In total, the Mexican international played 26 matches for Ajax, scoring three goals.

Ajax to play against Al-Wasl FC and Olympiakos at training camp

During the training camp at Wageningse Berg, Ajax will play two friendly matches. On Thursday, July 18th, the Amsterdam-based team will face Al-Wasl FC from Dubai, and a day later, on Friday, July 19th, Olympiakos will be the opponent. On Friday morning, Ajax coach Francesco Farioli welcomed Anton Gaaei, Sivert Mannsverk, Benjamin Tahirovic, Kristian Hlynsson, and Christian Rasmussen to the training pitch. The players had a longer vacation due to international matches after the previous season but also started their preparation this week.
