Ajax has reached an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion for the direct transfer of goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen to the English club. Scherpen's contract with Ajax ran until June 30, 2023.
Scherpen was born on January 23, 2000, in Emmen. He joined Ajax from FC Emmen in the summer of 2019 and made his debut for the first team on December 16, 2020 in the match between Ajax and FC Utrecht (5-4).
The 21-year-old keeper played a total of four official matches in the first team. The Dutch junior international won the league with Ajax last season and also won the KNVB Cup.
Ajax and Dusan Tadic have reached an agreement to extend the Serbian’s contract, which was set to expire on June 30, 2023. His new contract will run until June 30, 2024.
Ajax has reached an agreement in principle with Feyenoord for the transfer of Steven Berghuis. The agreement is subject to the fulfillment of a number of conditions, including a medical examination. If the conditions are met, Berghuis will sign a contract with Ajax that will last four seasons, until June 30, 2025.
In a Johan Cruyff Arena with no fans for almost the entire season, the ‘old logo’ was one of the few spectators at the Ajax home games. The impressive banner, handmade by the fans, could be found behind the goal week by week – in the stands that usually are the epicenter of a roaring Johan Cruyff ArenA. After such an unreal season, this historical logo will be back on the home jersey, in what is a one-off tribute to the fans. This logo does not contain the championship stars, like that was also not the case back in the days. The three stars do show as a neck detail, with a subtle addition of the three Andreas crosses.
