Van den Boomen (Veldhoven, July 21, 1995) previously came through the Ajax youth academy and made his professional debut for Ajax U23 on November 11, 2013, in the match against De Graafschap. He continued his career with FC Eindhoven during the 2014/2015 season before going on to play for sc Heerenveen, Willem II and De Graafschap in the Netherlands. Ahead of the 2020/2021 season, he joined French side Toulouse. In 2022, Van den Boomen won the league title with the club and helped secure promotion to Ligue 1.
The right-footed midfielder returned to Amsterdam on a free transfer in May 2023 and made his first-team debut on August 12 that year against Heracles Almelo. He made 56 competitive appearances for Ajax's first team, scoring five goals. During the second half of last season, Van den Boomen was on loan at French side Angers SCO.
