The Ajacieden trained at sports complex De Toekomst on Thursday. The focus is on the restart of the 2025/2026 season. All being well, the Amsterdam side will face Telstar away on Sunday afternoon. These winter days are being used to prepare for what is hoped will be a strong start to the second half of the season.

Anyone moving around De Toekomst or the area surrounding the Johan Cruijff ArenA these days will encounter a wintry Ajax. Pitches are being cleared of snow, and access roads are kept free of ice. When conditions become too harsh for football, the gym offers a safe haven for both young and old.

Among them was newcomer Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese defender trained with the group. Our photographer was there and captured the finest moments in the carousel below.

Grim's Ajax squad and the Ajax Women, coached by Anouk Bruil, held their first training session of 2026 earlier this week. After completing their daily football work, it was time for some fun in the snow. Many first-team players could not resist the temptation and rolled up a small stockpile of snowballs from the large heaps of snow alongside the training pitch, before laughingly pelting teammates and club colleagues. The winter weather thus became a picturesque, if chilly, form of team-building.

On Sunday, Ajax will look to continue the positive run from December in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie. There will be no room for snowball fights in the IJmond on Sunday afternoon - at least not during the match. From 14:30 onwards, only one thing matters: winning.
