"After AZ made it 1-0, we got into our game a bit more," said the manager. "We got a better feel for the system. Ultimately, AZ was highly efficient in setting up opportunities. We had our moments with Kenneth Taylor, Anton Gaaei and Kristian Hlynsson."
'Not enough'
Van 't Schip thought that play on the pitch did get somewhat better following a mediocre start. "As the match went on we were able to reach more people between the lines. But all in all it was too little. The lads fought hard, but it just wasn't enough."
All in all, Ajax gave away fewer opportunities than in recent games, the manager also noted. "That is something we can continue to build on. But we also want to play football using this system. We are not a team that hangs around in front of the net."
