Ajax won the third league match of the season as well. Vitesse was defeated 2-1 in de Johan Cruijff ArenA. Quincy Promes and Antony were the Amsterdam goal scorers. Edson Álvarez got a red card just before the break, but Ajax still won the battle.
The game was a bit like the start of the season three weeks ago against Sparta (0-1). Then Ajax also played most of the game with 10 men and Antony saved the day. This time the Brazilian struck in the 70th minute.
Teammate Promes opened the scoring earlier in the game. Old Ajaxied Riechedly Bazoer made the equaliser (1-1) with a nice distance shot.
