Hakim Ziyech missed the mid-week make-up game against Fortuna Sittard due to slight injuries. He will be available against FC Groningen on Saturday, expects Erik ten Hag.
The coach elaborated on Ziyech’s status during the press conference. “He trained yesterday”, said Ten Hag. “He looks good and I’m assuming that he can play tomorrow.” Noussair Mazraoui will also join the selection again. “If he is in good shape after the training”, said Ten Hag, as a precaution. “I’m also expecting Noa Lang to be available. He had a slight knee problem. Labyad is sick.”
Ten Hag also discussed his team’s scoring roll. “We’re scoring a lot. That’s always good to know. We have a good plan of attack and the players are hungry to get to the opponent’s goal. We have quality on our team, both individually and as a team. Our players have a creative approach.”
'Promes makes it happen. In the end, players are judged on their productivity'
Quincy Promes was on a roll during the Amsterdam team’s last game. He needed to be patient, but he’s scored 5 times in Ajax’s last three games. “Promes makes it happen”, said Ten Hag. “That’s how it should be, I think, you need to let your feet do the talking. In the end, forwards are judged on their productivity. That’s what it’s about.”
