After a successful online qualifier, Dani managed to claim one of the rare spots for the FUT Champions Cup #3. Dani will represent Ajax Esports in Atlanta from January 17 till January 19 and battle for the prestigious FUT Champions Cup title. With a total of 6 tournaments, a prize pool of $200,000 per tournament and 2000 Global Serie Points for the winner, the FUT Champions Cup are the biggest open tournaments within the EA SPORT FIFA 20 Global Series during the season. Those Global Serie Points are ultimately essential to claim a spot for the FIFA eWorld Cup at the end of the season.
Every FUT Champions Cup consist out of 32 XBOX- and 32 Playstation players. The matches in the group stage will be played following the Swiss Format. This means that every contender plays up to 5 matches against opponents with the same tournament records. Players who win at least 3 matches, will be qualified for the knock-out stage. Players who concede 3 losses, will be eliminated from the tournament.
In the first round, which will take place on Friday 17th January, there will be 32 players in a single group (per console) matched against another opponent by random draw. The top 16 players per platform will advance to a single elimination knock-out stage on Saturday 18th of January. Finally, the winner of each console will face each other in a cross-platform final to determine the FUT Champions Cup winner on Sunday 19th of January.
