Ajax and Victor Jensen have reached an agreement to extend his contract that had been effective until June 30, 2020. The new agreement for Jensen, who turns 18 today, takes effect on July 1, 2018, until June 30, 2023.
Jensen was born on February 8, 2000, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The attacking midfielder came from the Danish club FC Copenhagen in 2017, joining the Ajax U19s. Jensen made his debut in professional football on January 12 this year during the Fortuna Sittard – Ajax Reserves (2-1) game.
To date, he has played in 2 games for the reserves. Last Monday, he scored his first goal for the Ajax Reserves: 2-0 against Helmond Sport. “I’m very happy, this is the perfect birthday present”, says Jensen about his new contract. “My family came over. We’re going to celebrate this evening.”
Almost a dream week
His birthday, his new contract, his first professional goal: it appears to be a perfect week for Jensen. But he also had a setback this week: he missed the penalty for the Ajax U19s in the UEFA Youth League. “Monday was perfect, on Tuesday I was really upset. That’s football life. Full of ups and downs, but these setbacks only make you stronger. All in all, I can say that it’s been a very good week for me.”
