Ahead of Ajax's first competitive fixture of the season, away to FK Vojvodina, we sat down for an in-depth conversation with head coach Míchel Sánchez. "A player who presses gives energy to the team."

Ajax and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement on the transfer of Renee van Asten. The 19-year-old defender was under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2027.

It was barely two years ago that Renee van Asten found herself at a crossroads. She had to choose between signing for the Ajax Women or accepting a unique opportunity to combine studies and football at Harvard University in the United States. She followed her heart and joined Ajax, fulfilling a lifelong dream. That decision has proven to be the right one. After just one outstanding season in Amsterdam, Van Asten has earned herself a remarkable move to FC Barcelona.

Ajax Women look back on a good training week in Austria. A day before their departure, the squad played a friendly against German side 1. FC Nürnberg. According to head coach Anouk Bruil, however, it was also an important week for team-building. "When we play in the UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round, we will need more than just our footballing qualities; we will also need to be mentally ready. Those two things need to come together."

If Ajax eliminate FK Vojvodina in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, Míchel Sánchez's side will face either Shelbourne FC (Ire) or Nõmme Kalju FC (Est) in the third qualifying round. The matches in this round of the competition will be played on Thursday, August 6 and Thursday, August 13. Ajax begin with a home match.

Ajax has reached an agreement with Juventus and Diego Pugno regarding the loan signing of the twenty-year-old forward. The loan deal runs for one season and includes an option to buy for Ajax. Pugno will join the Jong Ajax squad with immediate effect.

His solo effort against NAC Breda was already being compared to Zlatan Ibrahimović’s famous goal against the same opponents in 2004. Mika Godts weaved his way past several defenders before keeping his composure to find the net. Ajax won in Breda, while Godts earned widespread acclaim for his stunning solo. The Belgian's goal has now been voted the 2025/26 Goal of the Season, earning him the Lasse Schöne Trophy. The Goal of the Season is powered by Curaçao.
