Viktor Fischer will undergo an operation on this injured hamstring on Tuesday (April 22) in Gothenburg. The forward was injured on February 23 during the match against AZ. Afterwards, a tear in his left hamstring was found.
It’s also possible to recover from this injury without surgery, however a procedure like this one, in which the tendon is stitched, is expected to give the best results in terms of recovery. In the past weeks, Ajax’s performance staff and Fischer have been consulting with various specialists, both in the Netherlands and abroad. His ambition and age, combined with the minor setback he recently suffered, have led to this joint decision. The operation will take place on April 22 in Gothenburg (Sweden), and experienced surgeon Leif Swärt will oversee the procedure. In any case, Fischer will have to miss the season opener.
