Mickey van der Hart was selected as the Toekomst’s most talented player during their awards evening. The keeper ended a fantastic season with A1. In addition to the national championship, A1 also reached the finals of the NextGen Series. Van der Hart will be the first team’s third keeper next season.
For Mickey van der Hart, who has been with Ajax’s youth academy since 2007, the season has been amazing. The talented Ajax player won the championship last month, closed the NextGen Series in the runner up position, and recently signed a contract which runs until 2015. How much better can it possibly get? As it turns out, much better. One month after signing his contract, Van de Hart heard from Frank de Boer that he would be joining the first team in the upcoming season. Van der Hart will be Ajax1’s third keeper. A tremendous achievement for the first year A-junior.
On Friday evening Van der Hart received the Sjaak Swart Trophy from Theo van Duivenbode, chairman of Lucky Ajax (and, as of last Thursday, also an Advisory Board member). Beforehand, Van Duivenbode dropped a few hints. “This guy just turned eighteen two days ago. He’s the grandson of a famed Ajax player, one of the best central defenders ever in the Netherlands: Cor van der Hart.”
Van der Hart can have a double celebration, because he’s also passed all of his school exams. “Going to school and training six to seven days a week requires an enormous amount of discipline”, continues Van Duivenbode. The keeper looked demurely at Lucky Ajax’s chairman. “I want to thank everyone who has worked with me in the past five years”, said the Player of the Year. “Mr. Grim, Mr. De Boer (Ronald), our keeper trainer and leaders, thank you. But also my family, my mother, brothers, girlfriend, and above all my father, who is there for every match. It’s an honour to receive this prize.”
Van der Hart follows in the footsteps of Davy Klaassen (2011), Christian Eriksen (2010), Aras Özbiliz (2009) and Daley Blind (2008). Siem de Jong, Kenneth Vermeer, Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder and John Heitinga were also all selected, in the past, as most talented player of the Ajax academy.
