Urban Warriors sign three players

Ajax Cape Town have just concluded the signing of Mkanyilesi Siwahla, Masonwabi Masetti and Ernest Mtawali.

While Ernest last appeared in Hellenic’s colours he is well known for his exploits in the middle of the park for Sundowns. A seasoned campaigner he is a accurate passer of the ball and is excellence middle field anchorman.

Mkanyilesi Siwahla, Masonwabi Masetti have been promoted from the junior ranks of the Ajax Cape Town Development Program. Mkanyilesi has just returned from London at the invitation of Tottenham Hotspur. The player trained with the Spurs U16 team and played in a friendly against Ipswich Town scoring two goals in their 3-0 win. David Pleat the Spurs Director of Football was impressed with Mkanyilesi and has promised a possibility of a return to White Hart Lane in the near future.

Masonwabi Masetti is also a product of the Ajax Youth Development program having represented the national U20 team recently He caught the eye of Louis van Gaal the Ajax Amstedam Technical Director and was impressed with this young soccer sensation and after seeing the player in action. On meeting the player Mr van Gaal encouraged him to keep working hard and that he will be monitored closely.

Gordon Igesund, the Ajax coach said, “We have monitored these two youngsters for the past season. The technical staff were impressed by their tremendous abilities and given the opportunity we are sure that they will do well. We have a fantastic development program and all credit must go to our junior coaching staff and Ad Zonderland for the work that they do with the youth. By signing Ernest we have added to the depth of our squad as he is one of the best passes of the ball and he adds stability to our midfield with his ability and vision. He is a player who makes things happen and despite his age we believe he can do the job for us. He is in excellent condition will be an asset to the squad.”

John Comitis, the Ajax CEO said, “ We at Ajax Cape Town believe in the development of our local players and in preparing them for the rigours of Premier League action. By developing our own players we allow our junior coaches time to iron out the weaknesses they find in a players game so that by the time they are ready for the senior squad they understand the system of play as well as what is expected of them at senior level.
