Ajax Cape Town coach Gordon Igesund has expressed his delight after a trio of Urban Warriors were called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the game against Zimbabwe later this month.
Goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, left-back Brett Evans and striker Nathan Paulse have all been selected for the Cosafa Cup quarterfinal clash in East London on July 19.
Igesund said it was just reward for the hard work they have put in in recent months.
Obviously I am very happy for the players concerned that they have received recognition for their good form. All three are talented youngsters who are bright prospects for the future.
Both myself and the club are very proud of them and I wish them all the best for the match.
However, the coach was concerned that some of the players would just warm the bench and miss out on some crucial preseason training.
I just hope that the players will be used, he said. If they are going to miss out on some of our preseason training then I at least hope that it is for a good reason. I would hate to see them in the squad just to sit on the bench.
We have a very serious training program underway and I am concerned that the players who leave for national duty could fall behind in there fitness levels.
