Erik ten Hag was down to earth after the heavily contested win against PEC Zwolle (2-1). The team’s performance wasn’t pretty, but the points count just the same. “It was an ugly win, but one that could potentially be important in the race for the championship.”
“We played reasonably enough in the first half”, said Ten Hag. “Our pace was too slow, but we controlled the game. In the second half, we were put under pressure and were unable to hang onto the ball.”
Compliments from Ten Hag
Still, things worked out well for Ajax, thanks in part to Ten Hag’s substitutions. “I need to compliment the substitutes. Joël did a great job, Klaas Jan gave the team a clear energy. And Noa was key with his assist to Daley’s goal”
Ten Hag explained his choice for Lang. The forward made his debut in the Eredivisie; a reward for his hard work, according to the coach.
“Noa is getting it more and more. He sees that you need to push for your own opportunities by working hard with the Ajax Reserves. Noa was already on our radar,
and when yesterday we saw that both Frenkie and Hakim were injured, we took a look at who was doing well at the moment with the Ajax Reserves, and he stood out.”
