Ajax and Siem de Jong have reached an agreement to extend his contract, originally valid until June 30, 2013. The new, improved contract now runs until June 30, 2015.
De Jong was born on January 28, 1989 in Aigle, Switzerland. He came to Ajax’s youth training program as a B junior, via De Graafschap. He made his debut on Ajax’s first team on September 26, 2007, during the Kozakken Boys – Ajax (1-2) cup match. To date, he’s played 130 official matches in Ajax’s first team, scoring 36 times.
Frank de Boer is pleased about Siem de Jong’s extended contract. “Siem has taken several steps last season, both on and off the field. That shows. He also often scores at critical moments. It’s a good sign that he’s extended, both for the players and the supporters. I have faith in Siem de Jong, and he has the potential to become even more important for Ajax than he already is.”
