Ajax Cape Town midfielder Dillon Sheppard has finally completed his protracted move to Russian giants Dynamo Moskow, ending his love-affair with the Urban Warriors. The Bafana Bafana star leaves on Monday to join up with his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Germany.
Originally from Durban, Sheppard joined the School of Excellence from Ramblers and was snapped up by Seven Stars as they made their debut on the South African soccer scene. The 24-year-old became part of the Urban Warriors set-up when Seven Stars merged with Cape Town Spurs to form Ajax Cape Town.
Dillon is one of the few South African players to have played for his country from U17 level through to the senior ranks. In his only appearance for the South African U17 side, he was voted as the Man of the Match despite being on the losing side against an English side comprising of the likes of Michael Owen, Jodie Morris and Wes Brown.
He also spent time at Spanish giants, Barcelona at the invitation of Bobby Robson who said that Sheppie was a credit to the School and his country.
He has represented his country on 10 occasions and the move abroad should bring him back into contention.
