Around 70 supporters of PSV have prevented the players of the club from Eindhoven from travelling to Amsterdam for the match for the Johan Cruijff shield at Ajax. The fans protested against the decision of the city council of Amsterdam to only offer a train/entrance ticket combination for visiting supporters.
A few weeks ago PSV decided not to take any fans to Amsterdam in protest. The 70 supporters wanted the players to boycott the match with Ajax completely.
PSV chairman Harry van Raaij showed he understood the action and did not want the police to end the protest The protesters let the bus pass at 16.00 hours. The PSV players were supposed to leave for Amsterdam at 15.00 hours.
Eventually the bus did not arrive in Amsterdam until 18.15 hours. Therefore the game will start at 19.15 hours.
