Problem – free evening for Ajax in Noordwijk

On Wednesday evening, Ajax reached the second round of the KNVB Cup without any problems.  Erik ten Hag’s team defeated the amateurs at Te Werve in Noordwijk by 0-7.  It was a special evening forPerr Schuurs, Mitchel Bakker en Noa Lang. They made their official debut in Ajax’s first team. 16 year-old Ryan Gravenberch, who made his debut against PSV on Sunday, was on the squad for the first time.

Schuurs – just like Gravenberch and substitute Jurgen Ekkelenkamp – scored his first goal for Ajax 1. Kasper Dolberg, Donny van de Beek and Zakaria Labyad (2) also scored.

Ajax faced the Te Werve amateurs on the fields of VV Noordwijk. The team plays 6 levels below, in the Second Class.  The Rijswijk team started the game energetically.  When te Werve had run out of steam after about 10 minutes, Ajax took over the reins, and took the lead soon after.

Schuurs and Dolberg strike

The ball remained in Te Werve’s box and arrived at Schuurs’ feet.  The rookie shot the ball mercilessly into the goal.  Seven minutes after that, it was Eiting who set up Dolberg with a 1 on 1 against the keeper.  The Dane remained cool and collected, sliding the ball past Te Werve’s keeper, into the goal: 0-2.

Ajax had the upper hand in South Holland.  After half an hour, the Amsterdam team took a 0-3 lead.  From the left side, Mitchel Bakker made a pass.  The rookie’s preparation work served Donny van de Beek perfectly, and he scored from nearby.

Just before halftime, Ajax made it 0-4.  A free kick by Carel Eiting exploded on Labyad’s head.  He sent a backwards header into the goal with a curve.

At the beginning of the second half, Lang made his debut with Ajax.  The 19 year-old came in for David Neres.  Fifteen minutes into the second half, Labyad received the ball on the left side.  He shot in and shot into the near corner.

Subtle curve ball

Immediately following the 0-5, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp made his debut in Ten Hag’s team.  Soon after, he crowned it with a goal.  A subtle curve ball from Schuurs onto Ekkelenkamps chest ensured that the latter was able to score his first goal in Ajax’s first team.  A special moment followed in the 82ndminute at Sportpark Duinwetering.  Gravenberch shot from the edge of the box cleanly into the corner, scoring the 0-7 goal. With this, he became the youngest player ever to score a goal for Ajax.
