What are you doing at Christmas and/or New Year’s Eve?
,,I am going home to South-Africa. The day before Christmas I go shopping and I’ll help my mother cook, well, she does all the cooking actually. Normally we have a big dinner, with sheep’s tongue and other things. Bread, vegetables et cetera. In the evening I go to a party with my friends. The next day, we go to church in the morning. When we come home we have lunch and give each other presents. After lunch we go to the other family. The rest of the day I spend with friends and we party. We walk around and eat and drink a bit. On New Year’s Eve all the family and friends get together again. Later that night we go to church, which finishes at 00.30 a.m. Then we go walking about and I don’t expect to get any sleep that night! On New Year’s Day we’ll go on a picknick with a lot of young people. That is a tradition for coloured people. We swim, drink, fish, dance and listen to music. That is the best day in South-Africa. It will last until about 11 p.m. and then we go to sleep. I will spend the rest of my holiday with my family.’’
What was the most important in the past year?
,,Winning the double with Ajax. And getting to play a lot. I am very happy with that, because that was one of my goals and reached it. It was very hard to make it into the first team. It was a good year, for the whole team and everyone has done well.’’
Expectations for 2003?
,,I don’t have expectations for the next year. I want to play as much as possible and win the Dutch championship. He national team of South-Africa is not on my mind right now.’’
With whom would you like to drink champagne?
,,With my mother and my girlfriend.’’
