On Monday, judgement was handed down in the case which was presented in Haarlem on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. The judge decided that the appointment of Martin Sturkenboom and Danny Blind as interim directors is legal and valid.
The judge also decided to temporarily suspend the intended appointment of Martin Sturkenboom and Louis van Gaal as statutory management of AFC Ajax NV.
The reason for the court case was the AFC Ajax NV Advisory Board’s decision between 16 and 25 November 2011 to propose the appointment of statutory directors (Van Gaal and Sturkenboom), and the temporary appointment of interim directors (Sturkenboom and Blind). Ajax commissioner Johan Cruijff, with thirteen others, is the plaintiff in the case. The defendants are AFC Ajax NV and the four other members of the Advisory Board, Steven ten Have (chairman), Edgar Davids, Marjan Olfers en Paul Römer.
Ajax will investigate the decision and potentially make further announcements after that.
