Supervised by goalkeepers' trainer Will Coort, Moeneeb Josephs went through his first training session with Ajax in Amsterdam on Monday morning. The 23-year old South-African from Ajax Cape Town began his first day of a week-long try-out period with the Dutch club.
Moeneeb Josephs hopes to earn a contract in Amsterdam. The friendly goalkeeper is eager and sharp. His explosiveness and the power with which he makes his actions catch the eye. And besides his goalkeeping skills he also shows that his football skills are none too bad either. Assistant coach Tonny Bruins Slot, who observes him during the drills, says 'this kid has played on the streets a lot'.
Josephs stays in a hotel during the week. He does not feel lonely. ,,Everybody is trying to make me feel welcome. The people here are very warm. You can see that Ajax are a real family. Steven Pienaar also helps me a lot. We know each other well from South-Africa. I am having a good time here'', says Josephs.
