Coach Erik ten Hag has selected 19 Ajacieds for the midweek game at Roda JC. Mitchel Bakker makes his debut in the match selection.
Bakker started this season in the U19s selection. The teen made his debut with the Ajax Reserves on October 27, 2017, and has played in 9 Jupiler League games to date. Ten Hag selected Bakker in January for the training camp in Portugal.
Bakker, who signed his first Ajax contract in September 2016, will wear jersey number 44. The talented player is the son of former Ajacied Edwin Bakker. Bakker Sr. played his only official match in Ajax 1 on January 30, 1983. In the 15 minutes of play accorded to him in the game against Haarlem, he scored one goal. Ajax defeated their opponents by 6-1.
De Ligt suspended
Ten Hag won’t be able to call on Matthijs de Ligt on Wednesday. The central defender received a yellow card on Sunday against NAC Breda, and has been suspended. Max Wöber is injured. He suffered a serious injury to his left ankle during the NAC Breda (3-1) game and the midweek game against Roda JC is too soon for the Austrian defender. Wöber is expected to be available for Sunday’s home game against FC Twente.
Compared with the selection for the match against NAC, Luis Orejuela is a new face in this selection.
Roda JC - Ajax kicks off on Wednesday at 20:45.
The 19 Ajacieden in the selection are:
Donny van de Beek
Frenkie de Jong
Siem de Jong
Klaas Jan Huntelaar
