The members' council of AFC Ajax has appointed Hennie Henrichs (51) as member of the board, with the portfolio of technical affairs.
Henrichs has been a member of Ajax since 1964. He is an alumnus of the youth academy and played for the Ajax amateurs until 1997. Henrichs wasa board member of Ajax from 1989 until March of 2000, responsible for technical affairs. Henrichs was also a member of the members' coucil for many years. In 1996, he was appointed honorary member of the club and Henrichs was also a member of several football-technical commissions.
Hennie Henrichs was born and raised in Amsterdam, and after highschool he went on to study chemical engineering. He is currently commercial director for pharmaceutical company Pharmachemie, responsible for policy, sales and marketing in the Netherlands and the distribution network in Europe en North America.
Hennie Henrichs replaces Klaas Nuninga in the board of the club. Klaas Nuninga recently announced he was stepping down. Ajax are indebted to Klaas Nuninga for the work he has done in the board and hope that he will remain involved with the club in the future.
The Board of Supervisory Directors of AFC Ajax NV intend to recommend Henrichs for appointment as supervisory director of the company.
