Mateo Cassierra is returning to Ajax directly. The striker was loaned out to FC Groningen for the entire 2018-2019 season, but Ajax has reached an agreement with both the Groningen club and the player, and Cassierra is returning. The forward is under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2021.
Cassierra (Barbacoas, April 13, 1997) came over in 2016 from Deportivo Cali. The Colombian made his debut with Ajax on July 26, 2016, in the home game against PAOK Saloniki (1-1). To date, he has played in 34 official matches for the first team, scoring five times.
Last season, Cassierra played mainly for the Ajax Reserves, with whom he won the Jupiler League championship on April 28. With 18 goals, he was the Ajax Reserves’ top scorer.
