Ajax reached the final of the Dutch FA Cup for the second year in a row by defeating RKC Waalwijk: 3-1. Wesley Sneijder, Gabri and Nicolae Mitea scored for Ajax. See the match photos here.
Gabri was voted Ajax player of the match. The Spanish midfielder scored the important 2-1 and was very valuable with his defensive efforts.
Before the match, Ajax announced that the club will retire number 14. The man responsible for making the number world-famous, Johan Cruijff, is here giving one of his football lectures to chairman John Jaakke and director Maarten Fontein.
Ryan Babel again was a constant threat on the left flank. He was relieved in the second half by Kenneth Perez.
John Heitinga played a solid match as central defender. Fortunately for Heitinga, his own goal did not prove fatal for Ajax.
Edgar Davids had to deal with a number of hard challenges but the experienced midfielder could not be shaken.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar was hit on the nose outside the line of vision of referee Bossen.
Thomas Vermaelen won every challenge in the air.
Kenneth Perez replaced Ryan Babel and played a big part in Ajax's third goal.
Substitute Nicolae Mitea made it 3-1, ending the last of RKC's hopes of a good result.
