Maarten Stekelenburg has been selected for the Dutch national team, who play a friendly match against Sweden on Wednesday 18 August. It is the first time the Ajax goalkeeper is part of Holland's A-squad.
Stekelenburg (21), who begins the season as Ajax's first goalkeeper, competes in the national team with veteran Edwin van der Sar. National team boss Marco van Basten has called up four more Ajax players. Johnny Heitinga, Nigel de Jong, Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart will all join the Holland team on Monday.
