Leonardo is on his way back to recovery. The Brazilian returned to the Ajax training pitch on Monday. A knee injury has kept him sidelined for eight months.
The knee injury, which he suffered on 4 March in the home match against sc Heerenveen, seems healed. Leonardo appeared unbothered by the injury on Monday's training session. The Brazilian had no visible problems doing his drills. ,,Finally it all went well, I am really happy about that’’, Leonardo said looking back on his training session.
The South-American hopes to make his return in a match soon. ,,It's too earlyy to say when or where. But after eight months of rehab, you want to play. Badly. For now, I just train at full power. If it continues to go well, a match will come automatically.’’
Leonardo did his drills with Dennis Rommedahl and Kennedy. A number of players of Young Ajax also trained with the first team on Monday. Gregory van der Wiel and Edgar Davids worked separately from the group with a physiotherapist.
