Last training in special setting

Ajax completed their last practice of 2010-2011 in a special setting. One day before the Portland Timbers – Ajax meeting, Frank de Boer’s team trained in the Jeld-Wen Field stadium, in the state of Oregon’s capital. The Major Soccer League team's home base will be completely filled on Wednesday as Ajax closes its championship year.

The 2010-2011 football season is almost over. Just one more game and the Ajax players can head for their well-deserved vacation. Although several players still have interlands on their agenda, Ajax’s activities will have ceased for the summer. Ajax’s is closing in on the end to a turbulent, but fantastic season as they visit the U.S. west coast.

Despite the temperature and time difference with Washington DC (3 hours earlier and roughly 10 degrees colder), they completed their last training briskly in Portland. The pace of the practices during this U.S. trip hasn’t been an issue. The start in Washington DC was soon after the championship, and the close in Portland will signal the beginning of the holiday.

The season will definitively end on Wednesday evening in the recently renovated football arena where the Portland Timbers play. The championship year deserved an appropriate finish in the U.S.’ greenest city. Ajax has the mighty task of breaking the Timbers’ unbeaten streak at home (5 consecutive home wins).
