Marcel Keizer was a happy man after the Classic win at Feyenoord (1-4). “This means so much to us”, said the Ajax coach. “We’ve come so far, considering everything that has happened. We’ve taken a couple of big steps in the past few weeks, but this is an even bigger one. This gives us an enormous boost.”
Ajax deserved to win, says Keizer. “We earned this win. Considering the opportunities we had, I think it’s pretty reasonable that we scored 4 goals.”
Midway through the game, when the score was still 0-0, the Ajacieds anticipated a good final result. “At halftime, the players had a good feeling. The way we were on the field, applying pressure, inspired confidence.”
Kasper Dolberg was responsible for half of the goals, thereby scoring his first competition goals of the season. Keizer was sincerely happy for his centre forward. Especially because the Danish player never complained when he wasn’t getting much playing time, says Keizer.
Luxury problem for Keizer
“Naturally, he wants to play. But Kasper is a realistic person. He was playing beneath his level for a long time. And if Klaas Jan is in your selection, you know that this can happen. But they’ve now both scored and they’re making it tough for me.”
