Hans Vonk joins Heerenveen

Hans Vonk (38) joins sc Heerenveen immediately. The goalkeeper returned to Ajax from South Africa on 7 October 2008, when Ajax needed an expreienced goalkeeper to back up Kenneth Vermeer, with Maarten Stekelenburg and Dennis Gentenaar injured.

Vonk signs a contract with sc Heerenveen to 1 July 2010.
Vonk: ,,I would not have minded staying with Ajax for another half season. I have worked here with pleasure the past months. The bigger chances of playing time as well as the chance of a good job with Heerenveen in the long term tipped the balance. I am aware of the fact that I got this chance because I am back in Holland playing for Ajax, so I am very grateful to Ajax. I am glad they agreed to this transfer."
Technical manager Danny Blind. ,,Even though we signed a contract with Hans Vonk that formally ran to the end of the season, there were several conditions to end it earlier in case the other goalkeepers would be healthy again. Hans has proven to be a true professional and it was a realistic option that he would finish the season with Ajax. But Hans is a good guy and we did not want to deny him this opportunity.”
The 38-year-old goalkeeper also played for Ajax in the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons.
