Shortly after ten in the morning Viktor Fischer steps into CEO Rik van den Boog’s office. Its a memorable day for the Danish talent: he’s to sign his first contract as a professional football player. His parents, brother, sister and his girlfriend are all present on this special occasion.

As Fischer and his family take a seat at the large table, CEO Rik van den Boog expresses his joy at the Dane’s arrival. ,,We are very happy to have you here. We have had some very good Danish talents here over the past few years’’, he said, referring to midfielder Christian Eriksen and the young Under 19s player Nicolai Boilesen. ,,We hope you will feel at home, make good progress and stay with Ajax for a long time.’’

Fischer has already been in contact with the Danish Ajax players, who have both made excellent progression with Ajax recently. ,,The most important reason for me to join Ajax, is to progress. I am technically and offensively oriented and try to score as much as possible. I would like to make progression, in those areas in particular. Christian and Nicolai have said very positive things about Ajax and how it all works here. They are very happy here in Amsterdam and that certainly stimulated me in my decision. It certainly wasn’t a difficult decision for me to make.’’

Fischer will join the Ajax Academy. The attacking midfielder will be playing with the Under 19s from 18 July. ,,In the last year six young players have made it through to Ajax’ first team. We are going to help you achieve the same thing’’, said Van den Boog. Who knows, the young talented and technically gifted player may be playing on the first team with Eriksen and Boilesen. That makes Fischer smile. ,,A Danish wave at Ajax, that would be great.’’

As he signs the contract, Ajax photographer Louis van de Vuurst asks him to look into the camera. Like a true professional he puts on a smile. ,,Natural’’, he says, making everyone laugh. ,,Can you imagine what your next contract will be like? Forty more pages’’, Van den Boog jokes about the paperwork. When the official part is over, the cheerful Dane is handed his Ajax shirt by Van den Boog. ,,Congratulations once again’’, the CEO says as Fischer admires the white shirt with the red stripe. Will he be the next Dane on Ajax’ first team?
