Marcel Keizer referred to the loss in Almelo (2-1) as an unnecessary one, post-game. “We should have won here. There were opportunities to decide the game, but we left them on the table.”
Keizer saw his team remain on the attack after Hakim Ziyech’s opening goal. “After the 0-1 goal, we took too many risks, while we should have remained more compact. We need to ensure that we take advantage of the counters more often than our opponent.”
The 48 year-old coach believes that the team has only itself to blame for the loss: “We didn’t do well enough today to win. My congratulations go out to Heracles Almelo.”
“This is a big blow for us. We need to process this and work towards Thursday’s game”, said Keizer, looking ahead to the Europa League match against Rosenborg.
